Including one full class, five subclasses, and a plethora of magic items, spells, races, backgrounds, and of course, monsters, Edmont's Harrowing Horrors was a successful kickstarter where I worked as the lead game designer, producer, marketing, art lead, scrum master, editor, and layout designer. I coordinated a small team and published the supplement with a tight turnaround of three months.
Edmont's Harrowing Horrors is divided into two separate books: Classes & Origins, which includes:
-
The necrolyte class, wielder of soul magics and master of death.
-
5 new subclasses: The College of Corruption Bard, the Path of the Possessed Barbarian, the Circle of Spirit-Shepherds Druid, the Oath of the Undying Watch Paladin, and the Abyss-Torn Sorcerer.
-
5 new backgrounds: the cultist, gravekeeper, medium, paranormal investigator, and the pursued.
-
3 new races: hellions, leshy, and pump'kin
-
7 new feats
And Adventure Resources, which includes:
-
11 new creatures spanning CRs 1/2 to 23
-
16 new spells from cantrips to 9th level
-
10 new magic items

This project was indeed harrowing. I dove head-first into it, starting it very quickly and learning as I went. The design came out very smooth, but this project taught me a lot about marketing, social media use, crowdfunding, and managing production. I was largely responsible for ensuring that everything was being done on schedule and to a high standard. I taught agile development techniques to the artists I worked with on the project and helped ensure content was done efficiently without crunch.

The project was successfully crowdfunded on Kickstarter.com. While the kickstarter was successful, I believe that in the rush to create this project, there was not sufficient time to get word out on the kickstarter itself, causing limited reach. The next time I crowdfund, I am eager to take the lessons learned when I cut my teeth on this project to make my next one even more successful.
